Background:

I am a native of Dayton, Ohio, but I moved to Louisville, Kentucky in the early 1980's.
I entered the legal field when I was employed by a Workers Compensation attorney in 1988 and stayed in his employ for over 13 years. Our family moved to southern Indiana in 1996 to help start a mission work as my husband, Roger, is a Missionary Baptist preacher.

In 2001, my husband and I decided to try something totally different so we became entrepreneurs and opened a coffee shop, Perkfection, in Jeffersonville, Indiana. My husband was a silent partner and had other employment, so I hired my sister to help manage the shop, my mother worked the front counter and both of our sons, Jason and Allen worked there, too. It was a great time for our family and we made some great friends while working there.

In September, 2005 our youngest son, Allen who was 19 years old, died in an automobile accident and that rocked our world. Roger and I struggled along for many months not sure what was going to happen to us. Then Northstar Church in Eagle River, Alaska called Roger and asked him to pastor their little congregation. After many weeks of discussing this matter we decided it would be good for us to get away. So (at the age of 50!) we started our great adventure. We sold as much of our belongings as we could and packed the rest into a U-Haul and hit the road. We enjoyed 17 months in Alaska, hiking and sight-seeing, but it seemed that the church was not prospering. At that same time, Roger's secular job offered him the opportunity to move to California. So on August 30, 2008 we packed our stuff (again) put it all in a U-Haul (again) and here we are.

When I started thinking about a job, I knew I wanted to stay in the legal field. That desire was fulfilled in joining the team at DenHerder & Associates. I love to learn and now I am learning about estate planning, trust, wills, etc. and I am pleased to be able to offer assistance with whatever a client may need - whether it be as simple as information about our firm and scheduling an appointment, to sharing your heartbreak at the loss of a loved one. I am here to be of assistance!
